Anonymous

I'm curious if anyone else has heard of this "movement"? I've only heard a little buzz going around the internet about this, and have not heard anything anywhere else.
It all started after the video leaked to the internet with Tom Cruise looking a bit like a mad man speaking about Scientology. The above video popped up blatantly challenging Scientology.
I'm not condoning the video (or Scientology) in the slightest, but what has me curious is the way they are going about using youtube to spread their message.
Today (I'm writing this at about 12:45am on Sunday) could be a day of protests. The video called for it, but it will be interesting if anyone follows through with it. I'll watch the intertubes for any buzz over the next few days...

I'm really ashamed to admit that this video clip made me laugh!

National Anthem Fenway Park

I saw this headline for the video over on Reddit.com...
I was actually expecting the worst for this video, but was pleasantly surprised to see how it ended up. Should bring a smile.

I suppose I should give a brief explanation here too...
It was "disability awareness" day at Fenway Park and a man with Autism was picked to sing the national anthem. Well, as he's singing he starts to get a case of the giggles... Then the crowd joins in to help him out :)

daft punk - viral

Ok, this post goes out to all you riaa folks, copyright crackdown lawyers, and everyone else who appreciates music...
The other day I stopped over to check out the laughing squid blog and saw this odd video (original squid post here). I watch both of the video's (that I reposted above). Yes... it's incredibly stupid to watch, but at the same time, I couldn't look away. It was a really catchy song, good beat, and really creative videos. Today, I went over to itunes and bought the song. THIS is how it's supposed to work people. I've heard of daft punk before. As a matter of fact, a few weeks ago I rented a movie from them and pretty much hated it. I didn't even really listen to the movie all the way through. So I figured that was that, I'd probably never buy a daft punk song. So then I stumble upon these "viral videos" on youtube, that under "normal" copyright law would (and may yet still) be pulled from the youtube website. But because of these creative bits, I was introduced to another song I'd not heard of and liked it. I have the tech know-how that if I wanted to, I could have recorded the music onto my computer (maybe some have), but I think most people if given a fair, easy way (such as itunes) will go out and BUY the music.
Who knows, maybe someone reading this post, and watching these same videos will feel the same impulse to buy some Daft Punk too. (You're welcome DP).

Google and youtube

So it's a lazt Sunday for me today. I really look forward to not doing a thing on Sundays. I may clean a little hear and there in my apartment, but overall I enjoy having a day where I can do what I want, or whatever I don't want to do.
So, I just finished watching a semi-bad movie called "next" with Nicholas Cage (imdb). I think this could have been a much better movie, but it was really hoaky to me. I won't even go into explaining it or critiquing it, just not worth it :)

But now...
I checked an old link I had bookmarked some time ago, and I just finished watching this hour long youtube video. Say what you want about the overall debate, but this guy is well spoken (meaning he knows his material), and says a lot of things that challenge one's faith and belief. It's a civil question and answer period as well, which is refreshing. I just have one thing to say about this... Faith (to me) is about not trusting in science and fact and logic. This is the essence of faith, and this is the inherent piece that most atheists can't get on an intellectual level. The Author's name is Christopher Hitchens (wikipedia). His new book is called God is not great with a subtitle of: religion poisons everything. With a title like that, you can tell he's not pulling any punches :)

This is a LONG movie at just under and hour, but I'd recommend you set aside an hour sometime and watch this.

Then I found this video too... much shorter and about politics and corporate America. Tru -dat!

This sort of thing is what makes youtube great for spreading information among us.

Miss "Such as" South Carolina...

I feel so bad for this girl. I almost considered not posting this, but I also think it's pretty funny. It's like every sterotype regarding "blondes" or "beauty pageants" came true at this moment.
And if true, I find the original stat disturbing!

Turn up your volume first, or you may miss the initial question. The audio quality is not that great. Poor kid.

Power of Wind

It took me a few minutes to actually get this video (hey it's almost midnight and I've been up since 7am, cut me some slack). But once I "got it" I just had to smile. What a fantastic commercial! I learned of this post via laughing squid another great blog I try to frequent on a regular basis.
This really hits home with me too... I used to work outside as a land surveyor. I was constantly battling the wind, blueprints blowing around, sand in the eyes, etc... just overall really annoying! Then one day I was having a bad "wind day" and I cursed the heavens (well, not really, but)... I had this crazy thought that IF God had ever made one mistake in his incredible creation, that I knew that "wind" was that mistake. I could see absolutely no good use for it... until today! Sorry Big Guy for doubting you. ;)

Nielsen's BuzzMetrics blogpulse

A long time ago I discovered this neat little website that lets you views what's "hot" in the blogging world. I'm not even going to pretend that I understand how these numbers and stats are figured out, but I check in every now and then to see what most internet users think is hot and important. So they have this little section for just the hot video links and these two videos I have to agree are really great!
I'm going to try and embed them both here...

Why is this so funny?
